I am happy to share that I have been accepted to Portland Open Studios! This incredible event celebrates local artists by opening their creative spaces to the public, and I am honored to be among the talented group of artists participating this year.
For those unfamiliar, Portland Open Studios is an annual event that invites the community into working artists’ studios, offering a behind-the-scenes look at their creative process. It’s an opportunity to witness art in the making, ask questions, and connect on a deeper level with the artists behind the work.
It has been over ten years since I participated in this event. Being a part of Portland Open Studios this year means so much to me because, over the last ten years, I have mainly focused on raising my two sons and, more recently, teaching art. During this time, I have also spent plenty of time reflecting and creating my home studio and art business for my full-time return to making and sharing my art. I consider this event to be my official opening event to being a full-time creative artist again.
This event will allow me to introduce to the public my completed vision that I have had over the last twelve years for my workspace and my vast backyard forest exhibition space to showcase the latest evolution of my works, which will be amazing and unlike anything you have seen at Portland Open Studios.
My art is not just about creating beautiful pieces—it’s about fostering a connection between people, nature, and the spaces they inhabit. This event will truly showcase my artistic philosophy.
As part of the event, I will open my home studio to visitors, allowing you to see where and how I bring my artistic visions to life. From the raw materials to the final touches, you’ll get a firsthand glimpse into my process, techniques, and inspirations. I’ll share many essential pieces I have made throughout my career, including an extensive inventory of my latest works, offer pieces for sale, and welcome conversations about art, nature, and the joy of creating.
This is an exciting milestone in my journey, and I cannot wait to meet fellow art lovers, collectors, and curious minds. Whether you’re a longtime supporter or discovering my work for the first time, I hope you’ll visit, explore, and participate in the creative energy that Portland Open Studios fosters.
The event is in October, and I will be working every day to prepare for it until then. I plan to share video documentation of much of my preparation for the event, so please go to my YouTube channel to follow my journey. In the meantime, feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to share in my excitement. I look forward to opening my doors, sharing our backyard forest, and sharing my world with you!
